As Southern California continues to see growing destruction from six different wildfires, thousands of homes are burning to the ground.
Specifically, the Pacific Palisades and Eaton fires are sites of where many celebrities once lived. Homes ranging in price from about $3 million to $70 million or more, as Kim Kardashian’s house is listed, are brought to rubble. As of now, her home is in the path of the fire, but still in-tact, while other celebrities haven’t been as fortunate.
Veteran actor James Woods posted on Instagram that his home has been destroyed. Anna Farris’s $5 million property is leveled as well.
Tom Hank’s son, Chet, posted that his childhood neighborhood is decimated, and asked his followers to pray for the Pacific Palisades. Adam Brody of The OC and his wife, Leighton Meester of Gossip Girl, watched as flames engulfed their property.
Maria Shriver posted about the devastation, asking the community for help. She says they are safe, but her surrounding neighborhood is gone, posting a shocking video of what the town now looks like.
Hollywood icons Billy Crystal, John Goodman and Jeff Bridges all lost their homes to the fire. More than 10,000 homes are destroyed including This Is Us actor Milo Ventimiglia. He toured his neighborhood visibly shaken.
Beyonce’s mom, Tina Knowles posted on Instagram that her Malibu home was lost in the fire. Actor Cary Elwes’ home is also destroyed. Posting on Instagram, Elwes shared a frightening video of the fire.
Socialite Paris Hilton watched her home burn live on television. She says, “Sitting with my family, watching the news, and seeing our home in Malibu burn to the ground on live TV is something no one should ever have to experience. This home was where we built so many precious memories.”
Jamie Lee Curtis had her home damaged and was inspired to donate $1 million to relief efforts.
The Palisades fire has destroyed over 20 thousand acres, making it the largest wildfire in LA history, with an estimated $10 billion in damages. Containment is only at 8% at time of publication. Crews have been working day and night to put out the fires, but are struggling as some wind gusts of 60-80 miles an hour are going through the areas affected.
The Pacific Palisades was founded just over 100 years ago and is largely residential. Located about 20 miles west of Los Angeles, it’s situated next to Malibu which is equally known for its beautiful beaches. The median home value lies around $3.5 million making it one of the most expensive zip codes in the country.
