Destiny’s Child Members Reunite On Broadway For ‘Death Becomes Her’

It was a bit of a Destiny’s Child reunion at the opening night of Death Becomes Her on Broadway. Performing in the stage version of the 1992 film by the same name, Destiny’s Child member Michelle Williams takes on the role of Viola Van Horn. Her former group mates, Beyonce and Kelly Rowland, were there to support their friend on stage.

Williams will portray a socialite who introduces the two main characters to a magic potion that promises eternal youth. Those characters spend the entirety of the show obsessed with beauty and youth and their efforts in trying to maintain those aspects sends them into a dark comedic spiral. The musical also stars Broadway veteran, Megan Hilty who also starred in Wicked off and on from 2004-2009. The show is playing at the Lunt-Fontanne Theater.

On her instagram, Williams posted a photo of she, Beyonce, and Rowland in a group hug with the caption, “They help me to shine. This song has been my theme lately but also reflects the love in my life. It’s a blessing!” Beyonce was nearly unrecognizable in a light gray baseball hat, long blonde hair and black glasses.

Beyonce took the bestie love one step further and posted her own caption on her Instagram page with a solo photo of Williams and simply saying, “My Belle.” Other photos in the post include Beyonce’s mother, Tina, who was also in attendance as well as a POV shot from Beyonce’s front row seat.

Destiny’s Child broke up in 2006 after releasing their 5th and final album. Beyonce left the group to start her own solo career. They sold over 60 million albums worldwide and of those albums including hits like No No No, Say My Name and Bootylicious. The latter was named as one of VH1’s 100 Greatest Songs. They won 3 Grammy Awards and have been listed as one of the greatest girl groups of all time.
