With Wicked flying into theaters in just over a month, fans everywhere are looking to turn their beauty regimen a little bit pink. Or possibly green. The marketing machine is working overtime as several beauty brands are making their mark in the consumer’s wallet.
Star of the film, Ariana Grande, who portrays Glinda the Good Witch, is making themed makeup collections available for the Oz fans. Her makeup line, r.e.m. beauty features a “Glinda” makeup set with lipstick, eyeshadow, blush, and eyeliner in the pink hues. Those who are feeling more like an Elphaba, the green witch, can find a similar palate but in green hues. The line also features an eyeshadow palette, under-eye patches, lip stains, and oils.
Ulta Beauty may be the mother load when it comes to Wicked merchandise. They carry It Cosmetic brushes, a set of two makeup brushes, in of course, pink and green. They also offer a Spellbonding Hair and Nail Repair kit from the brand Wella, which includes a serum for your hair, nail polish repair, and a comb.
Additionally, OPI has its share of color shades featuring, you guessed it, pink and green. But the high-quality nail polish brand isn’t missing the opportunity to bring in other colors of the rainbow with its 12-Day Advent Calendar of polishes, Yellow Brick Road polish, and a bold ruby red called Thrillifying.
Beekman 1802 gives fans luxurious, high-end body creams and lotions presented in beautiful packaging. Kids from the 80s will appreciate the throwback to their once-again popular Caboodles. The carry-all kit is the standard size and includes two sticker sheets.
The uber-popular story of the two main witches has enthralled people for nearly three decades. What began as a separate story of The Wizard of Oz, author Gregory Maguire created his own version of the fantasy land where the witches weren’t enemies, but rather had a rich friendship before Dorothy’s unannounced arrival.
The novel Wicked has sold five million copies and was adapted for the Broadway stage in 2003. Since its beginning, it has been performed over 81 hundred times and is the second-highest grossing show behind The Lion King, with $1.2 million in ticket sales. The first of the two-part film release is coming to theaters on November 22.
