Makeup trends come and go, but one thing that always seems to ring true for winter weather is deep, dark earthy tones. This is true for this wintery season as we approach the thick of fall weather and with that comes “cool” colors like berry, burgundy and brown.
Making a statement that won’t let you blend in with the scenery, is a bold lip color. If you’re brave enough, you can try out a near-black lip liner. The 90s super-trend of “goth” is no longer someone who wants to hide from attention, but rather someone looking to stand out. With an emphasis on pale skin and deep color on your eyes and lips it can be tricky to pull off for your daily wear.
L’Oreal Paris offers the products and even a tutorial on their website to guide you through proper application. It seems mastering the “smokey eye” look is key to pulling off the look. That includes dark eye shadows and a liner. On their website, there’s even a tutorial on a Halloween vampire look and pastel goth which softens the standard goth look with pastel shadows and sparkly eyeliner.
To mark the release of the Universal Studios film, Wicked, star of the film Ariana Grande has released a makeup set through her company that gives winter vibes. The “Elphaba” set from r.e.m. beauty features matte olive-black eyeliner, liquid eyeshadow in a forest green and champagne gold colors and a deep berry with plum red lipstick.
Besides earth tones, check out gray shadows for your eyes. Cool or warm undertones can be determined by a few simple questions like skin color, hair color and even your natural nail bed color. Lancome offers a tutorial on how to wear gray that matches your skin tone.
For your cheeks, a warm brown bronzer and blush, or “blonzers” are trending, giving your face a bright, tanned look, veering away from a pink shimmer you may see during the summer months.
If you haven’t been genetically blessed with long lashes, experiment with a faux set. Ranging in price from a few dollars to a nearly $40 set at Sephora, you can add lashes for a dramatic look.
But if all this talk of dark eye-catching colors is too much for you, another trend this fall is quite the opposite. A “healthy glow” makeup look is trending and is easy to achieve with a bit of highlighter and neutral eye makeup. You’ve nailed it if you look like you just finished a brisk walk.
Similar to the healthy glow, is a barely-there blush that is just one step removed from your grandmother’s method of pinching your cheeks for that glow.
Shimmer and shine round up the trending fall looks, possibly lending themselves to the holiday season and the parties that follow. Once again, deep and dark bronze eyes are where it’s at, but with an added shimmer to it to really grab attention.
With shimmer on your eyelids, you may look to your regular mascara, but not before you try your hand at a shimmer mascara. Beauty trends are suggesting you apply the sparkly product to your eyebrows this fall. Ulta Beauty users love this mascara with clean ingredients and vegan, they give it 4 out of 5 stars out of over 170 reviews.
