With summer slowly ending and fall right around the corner, fashion enthusiasts are dusting off their vintage Jimmy Choo boots and preparing for this year’s New York Fashion Week.
One Piece, a Japanese anime television series that has been out since 1997, has partnered with DJ Steve Aoki on a new fashion collection described as a “unique, high-fashion twist to streetwear.” The collection was announced via a press release that the anime show will make history this September, with its first appearance at New York Fashion Week (September 6-11). The famous DJ Steve Aoki Dim Mak’s label created the fashion pieces and nicknamed them “One Piece Spring Summer 2025 Collection.”
Steve Aoki said about the collection, “It will be presented to an invite-only guest audience, in a one-of-a-kind immersive runway experience utilizing images and elements from the series,” representing the “future of anime.”
Additionally, the collection pays homage to the exhilarating and engrossing world created by Eiichiro Oda and features designs inspired by the series’ current Egghead arc, including its colorful characters like Monkey D. Luffy and his Straw Hats crew.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Dim Mak to bring this special 25th-anniversary collaboration and first-ever ‘One Piece’ runway collection to New York Fashion Week,” said Lisa Yamatoya, Senior Director of Global Marketing for Toei Animation Inc.
“The year is not over, and we have more in store for fans during our ‘One Piece’ 25th anniversary celebration!, Steve Aoki told Vogue in its recent feature, teasing the upcoming “One Piece Spring Summer 2025 Collection.”
Via his representative Chapter 2 Agency, he said, “I’d like to highlight how this collection brings a unique, high-fashion twist to streetwear. We’ve incorporated luxe materials and intricate details that elevate each piece, making it not just about comfort and style, but also about craftsmanship and sophistication. I believe in merging the worlds of anime and high fashion, creating a new space where these two cultures meet in a way that hasn’t been done before.”
However, this is not the first time that the anime series has released a fashion-forward collection. First announced on the One Piece staff official X, formerly Twitter, account, One Piece and watchmaker SEIKO have partnered and created two timepieces to pay tribute to the series’ 25th anniversary.
The MEMORIAL EDTITON watch costs 49,800 yen (roughly $334) and is followed by the ONE x SEIKO 25th Watch EGGHEAD Edition (sold by Toei), which sells for 48,400 yen (roughly $325). Sales are currently limited to Japan, which means overseas fans will have to use reliable proxy shipping services.
According to CBR, the Memorial Edition watch comes in a special wooden Collector’s box, featuring the Straw Hat Pirates’ skull and crossbones Jolly Roger. It’s designed to look like a treasure chest inside and comes with a postcard of Shanks giving his Straw Hat to Luffy. The watch dial features several Straw Hat motifs, such as nods to Luffy and Shanks’ crews; a “One Piece 25th” logo is also engraved on the back of the face. Also on the back is an edition number from 1-5000, emphasizing the limited-edition nature of the watch.
The limited-edition watches are set to be released in 2025.
