Ari Lennox Gets Arrested in Amsterdam After The 2021 Soul Train Awards

R&B singer Ari Lennox finds herself hemmed up in Amsterdam, Netherlands after calling out racial discrimination. The Shea Butter Baby singer was arrested at the Amsterdam Schiphol Airport by the Dutch Military police on Monday (November 29) for allegedly disturbing public order. 

Lennox isn’t one to have many run-ins with the law, so for her to be arrested internationally is out of the norm. According to Lennox, the Dutch Military police arresting her was completely racially motivated, and the sole reason she was apprehended. 

On Monday (November 29) Ari Lennox released a stream of tweets surrounding the arrest, and her thoughts on Amsterdam security. 

“Fuck Amsterdam security. They hate black people,” Lennox first tweeted on Monday (November 29). “They’re arresting me,” Lennox said in another tweet. Following up with another tweet, Lennox exposed the grounds of her arrest, tweeting “I’m being arrested in Amsterdam for reacting to a woman racially profiling me.”

Ari’s explanation for her Amsterdam arrest supports her assertion of an unjust Netherland legal system, however the Dutch police claim Lennox was being held because of “aggressive behavior” and public intoxication, according to NBC.

“Our unit found a woman full of emotions that wouldn’t calm down,” spokesman Robert van Kapel told NBC. “That’s why she had to be taken into custody.”

Upon her arrest in a foreign country, fans were inquiring about her safety for obvious reasons. 

“I really hope @AriLennox is okay. Praying for her safety,” someone tweeted. In response, Lennox’s manager updated fans about how Lennox was doing following her arrest on Monday afternoon. 

“Hey everyone, ari is safe and appreciates the support and everyone checking on her,” Justin LaMotte tweeted. 

Luckily Lennox is okay and safe. Irrespective of Lennox’s arrest scandal towards the end of the year, 2021 has been glorious to Ms. Lennox. Between performing her new hot single Pressure at the 2021 Soul Train Awards on Sunday night, and collaborating with Summer Walker on her new single Unloyal, Lennox is exiting 2021 with a bang.
