It’s official for Subway as they launched an all-new treat called the Oreo footlong cookie, more than a year after the footlong-sized cookie was first introduced.
More than $13 million Subway footlong chocolate chip cookies have been sold since then, according to a Subway press release. Subway struggled to keep up with the high demand and didn’t allow customers to order them online due to the quick cookie shortage.
Made with Subway’s chocolate chip cookie dough base, the Oreo-flavored dessert is topped with vanilla cream and Oreo pieces, which will only be available for a limited time.
“Subway worked closely with Oreo to create something that fans of both brands are going to love — the perfect blend of our popular double chocolate chip cookie with the delicious and delicate crunch of their signature chocolate and créme filling,” Paul Fabre, the Senior Vice President of the Culinary and Innovation department at Subway, said in a statement. “Oreo shares our passion for quality ingredients and maximum flavor, making them the ideal partner for Subway’s first Footlong Cookie collaboration.”
Despite the genuine intent behind the new limited-time treat, some food fans have already warned others that the Oreo Footlong Cookie is “tasteless,” according to The Sun. It already has mixed reviews online with Subway fans on Facebook saying the cookie has “no taste” and that it looks “dry”. But users on X were excited about the new cookie as one chimed that “Subway never fails.”
For more background context of the famous chocolate chip footlong cookie, the original “limited preview” was for National Cookie Day in December 2023. Then in January 2024, Subway made the cookie available nationwide.
Other treats, including the Cinnabon footlong churro and the Auntie Anne’s footlong pretzel, made their debut the same month. Nine months later, Subway released a holiday-flavored footlong cookie Double Chocolate Peppermint.
The Oreo footlong cookie is now available for purchase through the Subway app or in-store at participating Subway locations for a limited time.
