Morgan Wallen Speaks On ‘God’s Plan’ After His DUI Sentencing

Country singer Morgan Wallen is taking time to reflect on his eventful and sometimes drama-filled 2024. In an emotional Instagram post, Wallen addresses the elephant in the room, “You know, over the span of almost 10 years now, there were times in that period where I doubted myself. I doubted my voice, I doubted God’s plan.”

Wallen was sentenced last week to spend 7 days in a DUI education center as well as two years of supervised probation. He was originally charged with felonies, but the presiding judge lowered the charges to misdemeanors. He is charged with two counts of reckless endangerment and is also required to pay a $350 court fee. Once he meets all the court requirements, his record will be expunged.

The 31-year-old singer appeared in court after he was arrested for throwing a chair over the balcony of a bar. The incident, which occurred in April of this year at Chief’s, made headlines when the chair nearly hit two police officers standing below the 6th-story plunge.

Wallen, at the time, was intoxicated and was seen laughing afterwards on security footage. He said later that he is not proud of his behavior and that “I didn’t feel right publicly checking in until I made amends with some folks. I’ve touched base with Nashville law enforcement, my family, and the good people at Chief’s. I’m not proud of my behavior and I accept responsibility.”

Wallen’s attorney, Worrick Robinson IV, said his client has been helpful during the process saying he “has cooperated fully with authorities throughout these last eight months, directly communication and apologizing to all involved.”

Wallen came onto the country music scene in 2018 with the release of his first album, If I Know Me. HIs second album, Dangerous: The Double Album spent 7 weeks at number 1 on Billboard Hot 200, making it the only country album in the chart’s history to do so.

He was recently awarded Entertainer Of The Year by the CMAs and Billboard, awarding him top country artist, top male artist, top country male artist, and top collaboration for his song with Post Malone, I Had Some Help. That song, in particular, is also nominated for a Grammy. Interestingly, fans noticed that Wallen was quick to thank those in charge at Billboard for the accolades but didn’t publicly thank those at the CMAs.

Wallen hit the road in one of the highest country music tours of the year. His One Night At A Time tour made nearly 90 stops for over 3 million fans. He continued in his post, “You guys, my fans, have made it abundantly clear that you want to hear my voice and you do care about it. So I just wanted to let you guys know how much I appreciate that and how much your support and just the passion for my music, for me as a person, how much it truly means.”
