Taylor Swift is understandably difficult to shop for given her financial status and influence to those around her but with the holidays coming up, Jason Kelce has an idea for a gift for the pop star.
Talking to Jimmy Kimmel, the brother of Swift’s boyfriend, Travis, hints at putting his craft skills to good use. He says, “Its tough to shop for people that can have anything that they want. You gotta go to handmade gifts, something that is sentimental maybe that is near and dear to them.”
He and Kimmel laugh about the idea of Kelce creating a macaroni necklace, similar to those made as a young child. Kelce says, “I’ve never done it, but I think it would work. It works on me with my kids.” Kimmel notes that the “friendship macaroni necklace” will be a big hit, “I think the message here is buy stock in macaroni. It’s about to skyrocket.”
Kimmel is referring to the phenomenon of the “friendship bracelets” Swift fans made during The Eras Tour. Referencing a line from her song, You’re On Your Own, Kid, tuned in fans honed in on the line “so make the friendship bracelets, take the moment and taste it.”
They did so in the millions, as making, exchanging and wearing the bracelets became almost expected if you were a fan of the singer. The Eras Tour brought in one billion dollars, making it the biggest selling tour of all time. Swift is releasing a coffee table book this holiday season which chronicles her tour in more than 500 photographs.
Kelce spent 13 years in the NFL before his retirement earlier this year. The All-Pro Center spent his entire career as a Philadelphia Eagle and during that time he became one of only 3 centers in the league’s history to be named an NFL All-Pro player at least 5 times. He won one Super Bowl ring in 2018, which he admitted to losing in a pool of chili. He is gearing up for his shot behind the mic as he will host a late-night show of his own starting January 4th. The weekly show titled, They Call It Late Night With Jason Kelce will run for 5 weeks and will air on ESPN and focus mostly on football with a hint of late-night features.
Kelce is the older brother of Travis, who is quite famously dating Swift. Their relationship has brought viewership to the NFL up nearly 18 million viewers with Kelce’s jersey sales reaching a 400% increase.
