Keanu Reeves Makes His ‘Excellent’ Debut on Broadway

Hollywood A-Lister Keanu Reeves will show his acting prowess on a Broadway stage. The 59-year-old veteran actor is taking on the role of Estragon in Waiting For Godot in the fall of 2025.

Joining him onstage is his three-time co-star Alex Winter, who will portray the character, Vladimir. The duo famously portrayed the titular characters in the Bill And Ted franchise, which produced three movies. In a joint statement, the actors said, “We’re incredibly excited to be on stage…in one of our favorite plays.”

Written by Samuel Beckett, Waiting for Godot is widely considered to be one of the greatest plays of all time, digging deeper into the meaning of life, existence, and death. Telling the story of two men who converse while waiting for the arrival of a mysterious Godot, who ultimately never appears, the two main characters engage in a variety of discussions.

The play was originally produced in 1953, and adapted into a feature film in 2001. Voted by the British Royal National Theatre, Waiting For Godot was named the “most significant English-language play of the 20th Century.”

Two-time Tony nominee Jamie Lloyd will be directing the two stars on stage, which will premiere at one of the Ambassador Theatre Group’s theaters. Fans on X reacting to the announcement.

One wrote on the social media platform, “I love that Bill And Ted have grown up enough to have another existential crisis.” Another fan simply says, “Excellent!”

Reeves also stars in the action film series John Wick franchise which produced four feature films and grossed over 1 billion dollars at the global box office. Winter has taken a recent turn to directing, working with Josh Gad in an upcoming movie Adulthood. Other Hollywood actors plan to hit the Broadway scene including Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal who will share the stage in Othello.
