We’re only a few months into 2024, and it’s already been filled with drama. From the Taylor Swift-Kim Kardashian feud to the Kendrick Lamar-Drake rap beef, we have our hands full as spectators of the internet.
January – Katt Williams Kicks It Off
Katt Williams seemingly lit the fuse when he stirred the pot in his appearance on Shannon Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay podcast earlier this year. In the almost three-hour-long interview, Williams went after celebrities like Cedric The Entertainer, Rickey Smiley, Kevin Hart, Ludacris, and a few others.
Shortly after, most of everyone that Williams shadily addressed during Club Shay Shay released a response on social media. While Hart and Ludacris’ reactions to Williams were more light-hearted, Cedric the Entertainer was much more aggressive.
March – Rap Beef Starts
The month of February came and went without any notable feuds. However, a rap beef started in March that is still going strong.
Kendrick Lamar’s diss of Drake and J. Cole in his feature on Metro Boomin’ and Future’s song, Like That, has restarted a decade-long feud between him and Drake. Serious accusations that Drake and Lamar have thrown at each other during their heated exchanges over their respective back-to-back diss records have left people on the edge of their seats for what would happen next.
Also that same month, Kai Cenat ended up in a feud with Kanye West over a misunderstanding involving the trying on of West’s brand, Yeezy sweatpants, which Cenat made jokes about but the Gold Digger rapper didn’t take too kindly to.
Cenat and his former friend, fellow streamer iShowSpeed, began beefing over unknown reasons in March, too.
April – Celebrities Go Wild
April was a busy month with several feuds like Taylor Swift and Kim Kardashian, which was reignited after the Bad Blood singer dropped her new album, The Tortured Poets Department, which had a song called thanK you aIMee, with oddly placed capital letters, which had people speculating to be about Kim.
Kim responds by posting a photo with one of Swift’s ex-friends, Karlie Kloss, who got kicked to the curb due to rumors that she released important information to Swift’s then manager, Scooter Braun.
Chris Brown and Quavo exchange hits, reviving a feud that started in 2017 over Quavo dating Brown’s ex, Karrueche Tran.
May – More Rap Beef
Love and Hip Hop: Miami star Sukihana released a diss track called Cocaine on May 8, in which she attacks City Girls alum JT over the comments JT seemingly made towards her.
JT recently released a song titled Okay, with the lyrics, “She ate crab legs, now her whole tooth missin’/Cheap a** veneers, you stay talkin’ s**t,” seemingly referencing Sukihana. In 2022, a tooth popped out of Sukihana’s veneered mouth due to her eating crab legs.
The rapper asked JT in an Instagram video last week to clarify who JT snubbed in Okay before she dropped Cocaine. People online had kept saying that JT’s dig was aimed at either Cardi B, who she’s had issues with in the past, or Sukihana, but the latter wanted to be sure.
JT apparently didn’t reply quickly enough because Sukihana took to X, fka Twitter, to claim that JT used cocaine, which JT, of course, denied on the platform.
The two rappers went toe-to-toe on social media after that, leading to Sukihana’s Cocaine, and now JT’s extended version of Okay, which appears to take more digs at Sukihana.
The common theme with these feuds is that most of them have been reignited through music. Now, the question is, what will be the next feud to make the 2024 roster?
