New York Mayor Eric Adams has fans scratching their heads now that he’s set to make an appearance on the podcast Drink Champs. Drink Champs, which is hosted by rapper N.O.R.E., normally features other rappers and entertainers as guests, so having a politician on the show raised a few eyebrows.
Many were shocked by Mayor Adams’ upcoming sit-down with N.O.R.E., especially since the former is a prominent political figure. Social media users began discussing the legislator’s guest spot on the New York rhymer’s podcast after the latter posted a teaser of their forthcoming sit-down interview on Instagram Monday. Each Drink Champs podcast is filmed and shared on the official Revolt YouTube account and Revolt TV website.
Not too long after the Love & Hip Hop: Miami alum uploaded the Drink Champs filmed snippet to his Instagram account, it was reshared on X, fka Twitter. In a trending thread on the ex-Twitter app, several fans couldn’t seem to wrap their minds around Adams’ being on Drink Champs later this week.
“I thought this was a lie. It is not. WHY IS ERIC ADAMS ON DRINK CHAMPS,” one questioned on X.
Another added: “A mayor…on…Drink Champs?”
“Can someone please explain to me why the f**k Mayor Eric Adams is on Drink Champs? Quickly please,” someone else mentioned.
Countless more just felt that it was inappropriate for Mayor Adams to be on Drink Champs. The podcast is often flooded with alcohol, marijuana smoke, and a great deal of profanity at the hands of N.O.R.E. and his co-host, DJ EFN. Although Drink Champs is a great place for people to come, let loose, and casually converse on topics that impact Black culture, some didn’t expect Mayor Adams to be in that space.
“New York Mayor Eric Adams on ‘Drink Champs’ was not on my 2024 Bingo card,” one revealed.
From the hip-hop icon’s clip, it seems that Mayor Adams was invited to his show to discuss the congressman’s field of expertise–politics. Throughout the short snippet Mayor Adams can be seen answering questions about the criminal justice system, speaking on economics, and toting his efficiency as the Mayor of New York.
There is a chance that he might be there to promote the strides he’s made since taking office in 2022. His accomplishments include significantly lowering the Black unemployment rate in New York and recently launching an initiative helping to connect New Yorkers to jobs.
Either way, you could find out what Mayor Adams is saying for yourself on Thursday, May 2, when his episode of Drink Champs premieres on the Revolt TV website.
