A popular TikTok creator and an employee of Chick-fil-A named Miri—her TikTok handle is MiritheSiren—is best known for her Chick-fil-A TikTok series, which features her trying tasty items from the restaurant’s menu.
However, over the weekend, Miri posted a short video on TikTok promoting Shake Shack. In the video—which has been watched almost one million times—she taste-tested three chicken sandwiches with different sauces that the restaurant offers. She paired the entrees with Shake Shack’s signature cheese fries, washing her food down with the burger joint/chicken shack’s refreshing Dragonfruit Pomegranate drink.
What Miri did in her paid promotion with Shake Shack she tried to do for free with Chick-fil-A since she works for the latter. Earlier this month, she went viral on TikTok after she shared a video of herself inside the Chick-fil-A store she works at trying their Cherry Berry drink flavors: Cherry Berry Sun Joy, Cherry Berry Lemonade, Cherry Berry Ice Tea, and Cherry Berry Frosted Lemonade on a work break.
She purchased each drink herself under an alias name.
Almost four million people saw Miri’s Cherry Berry drink video, many of whom were then inspired to visit their local Chick-fil-A and try the fast-food chain’s Cherry Berry beverages. Although Miri’s clip was a good source of promo for the chicken brand, Chick-fil-A reps weren’t fond of it.
The social media personality disclosed in a clip on TikTok last week that Chick-fil-A’s corporate team and PR team had contacted her, asking her to stop making Chick-fil-A food reviews at their restaurants as they cited the company’s employee handbook.
Chick-fil-A’s head honchos also declined Miri’s invitation to collaborate so she could continue her Chick-fil-A content.
“I do wanna make clear that this rule was in place before I ever started making Chick-Fil-A videos, and unfortunately, Chick-Fil-A is not willing to make an exception for me or collab with me in this case,” Miri explained, clarifying that she wasn’t in trouble and could still work at the store.
Miri teaming up with Shake Shack was music to many of her fans’ ears, as some of them were rooting for her to become a brand ambassador for another fast-food chain after she announced Chick-fil-A refused to partner with her.
“Shake Shack knows how to appreciate talent when they see it.. Chick-fil-A missed out big-time,” one user wrote on X, fka Twitter.
Another added: “I remember seeing her video updating on what CFA told her and i was so icked out. glad another chain reached out, im hoping she’s able to quit CFA and become a food reviewer(or whatever content she wants to do) full time.”
“Wow, @ChickfilA, you should be ashamed of your rule. She was helping the co. And now look at everyone going to @Shakeshack for chicken sandwiches that look delicious. I’m definitely going to try a chicken sandwich now,” a third confessed.
Chick-fil-A might revise its company rule on account of Miri.
