We all have those photos, and maybe even videos, that if somehow were leaked to the masses would cause great embarrassment. Some of us even have X-rated videos and photos that are for the voyeuristic pleasure of ourselves and the parties involved residing in our heavily secured cellphones and laptops.
For many of us, having videos of our sexual escapades dropped on Twitter would be anxiety inducing and downright humiliating. Ironically, when 26-year-old New York City council candidate Zack Weiner had a video of him engaging in BDSM leaked on Twitter and OnlyFans he was far from ashamed.
“Whoops, I didn’t want anyone to see that, but here we are,” Zack Weiner said in a statement posted to Twitter. “I am not ashamed of the private video circulating of me on Twitter. This was a recreational activity that I did with my friend at the time, for fun.”
In the video the city council candidate for the 6th district in New York City was bound and restrained, accompanied by a woman dominatrix, according to Bleeping Computer. Luckily for Zack Weiner—especially since New York City Council elections are underway—Twitter and OnlyFans have taken action, suspending the accounts that posted the video because it violated their policies. Allegedly the accounts that posted Weiner said they obtained the videos from his Mistress (the female dominatrix), according to Motherboard.
Despite the video clearly violating Twitter’s non-consensual nudity policy, Twitter told Motherboard that they suspended the accounts that leaked the video because they violated Twitter’s spam and platform manipulation. It’s odd that Twitter wouldn’t tag the accounts for violating Twitter’s non-consensual nudity policy when the video is being referred to online as “revenge porn,” as noted by Vice.
Although Twitter and OnlyFans immediately halted the non-consensual leak of Weiner’s sexually explicit video from spreading throughout their platforms, that swiftness isn’t guaranteed for everyone in similar predicaments.
