Since being in the culinary world for years, Bobby Flay, shaped up to be one of the most notable chefs in America.
He currently has a lineup of restaurants in Las Vegas, Connecticut, Georgia, New York, Maryland, and other cities and states, with Bobby’s Burger Palace being his longest-standing restaurant. Flay has appeared on shows such as Beat Bobby Flay, Iron Chef of America, Worst Cooks in America, and BBQ Brawl. He’s won three James Beard Awards, multiple Daytime Emmys, and was the first chef to earn a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
With the Super Bowl taking place on February 9, popular game-day snacks are back to making their rounds at parties, such as wings and pizza. Some more popular foods are nachos, and according to websites like Hungry Fan, they’re in the top 5 in Super Bowl snacks.
Flay has a way to make the already popular snack item even better. His twist? Nachos with a bit of green.
“My favorite thing to make is Brussel sprouts and nachos” Flay said.
In an Instagram reel for Misfits Market, Flay makes an appearance and gives a rundown on how to turn a regular game day nachos meal into the best nachos with a chef touch. Flay’s nachos are vegetarian based, meaning that unlike traditional nachos, there’s no meat.
“The healthy kind of nachos of course.” Flay said in the reel.
In the video, Flay lays a foundation for making the dish. He starts with his base, blue tortilla chips, then adds Muenster cheese sauce, topping it off with one of his main ingredients, Brussels sprouts. Adding these ingredients to the nachos can add some sweetness already to the crunch and hot cheese.
Flay sautés the Brussels sprouts in avocado cooking oil with medium heat, adding some salt and pepper. While he was sautéing them, he started preparing the cheese sauce with butter and flour and slowly added the milk and cheese.
After that, Flay assembles the nachos by placing the blue corn tortilla chips first, then the Brussels sprouts. Soon, he slowly pours the cheese sauce over them adding pickled vegetables as well as hot sauce to top it off.
With the Super Bowl just days away, here’s a new spin of nachos to create for game day.
